Other
Tuvans, Khakass, Altaitsi, Mongols, Buryats etc.
Here
are some other musical groups from TUVA and the area around
it. Please email us if there are others that we have missed
(like SABJILAR from Khakassia).
And there must be more information out there for the likes
of T. Ganbold the Altai-Mongolian singer who recorded with
RUN Productions 10 years
ago.
Hun-Huur-Tu
The
most famous of all Tuvan bands. Started by Alexander Bapa,
his brother Sayan and Albert Kuvezin with ace khoomeijis Kaiga-ool
KHOVALYG and Aldyn-ool SEVEK, maybe two of the most talented
singers of their generation. Kaiga-ool's live version of the
song Oeskues (the orphan) is widely recognised as a masterpiece
and Albert says it is fantastic when he sings it. Albert
KUVEZIN was a member for their first CD "60 horses
in my herd" and the CD features his singing and many
of his arrangements. They made an interesting tour in 1992
to Sweden and Tommy Adolfsson has the video of the traditional
part of the set though the punk-rock performance has been
lost, sadly.

They
are helped by Professor Ted Levin whose writings include the
excellent "100,000 Fools of God" describing his
PhD in central Asia. Managed by Sasha Cheparukhin of Greenwave
MOSCOW who once played percussion with Yat-Kha In Yakutsk
festival "Tabyk" and now is with Farlanders (Inna
Zhelannaya)
Chirgilchin
A
young band from Tuva - lots of them play with Sayani (see
below). Sasha Bapa now manages them and others.
