Is it strange that I enjoy walking through the aisles at home improvement stores? Just seeing all those rows of fixtures and samples of various products makes me so happy.
I think it has something to do with imagining the possibilities. Small changes can breathe new life in a home that is desperate for an upgrade.
So, as I browse along, I’m filling in the spaces or swapping out pieces in the home that don’t work. Most of the time I do it by how the item makes me feel. If you’re looking to change the look of anything in your home, you have to love it or else you’re just wasting money.
This is the test I used when we started looking at homes. We weren’t desperate for a new house, so we had time to consider the pros and cons of a house.
I confess that I’m not fond of moving. Actually, I don’t know anyone who likes to move. This factor helped me weed out the likeable homes from the loveable ones.
Finally, after about six months, I saw the right home. I don’t know if it’s possible to fall in love with a home at first sight, but this one called to me in a way I had never felt before.
I’m sure you won’t be surprised to know we ended up buying it. It’s absolutely perfect in every way, except for one. Normally, I’d let this go, but it was so blatant I had to do something.
I was starting to feel as if I was in a spaceship. Now, if I was equally obsessed with that type of finish I wouldn’t have complained.
Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem at all. However, the home has an older feel to it, and I wanted something with more warmth, especially in the kitchen. If I’m going to spend hours in there creating something delicious, I want my kitchen to reflect my taste and personality.
However, none of the kitchen faucets I saw at the store struck me as “the one,” so I checked out some websites for ideas. After skimming various sites without much luck, I found the perfect one at Faucet Assistant.
That faucet met every requirement I had. Not only did it come in five different finishes, it had a 360-degree swivel, a pullout option, and better control with a single handle for the water. The shape of the spout was charming as well. If this type of faucet isn’t your style, the site also has plenty of options to help you choose the right faucet for you.
When the faucet arrived, I couldn’t wait to install it. I’m not the handiest person, but I’ve learned enough from friends and YouTube videos that now I’m fairly proficient at it.
As you can imagine, at first my kitchen area was a mess. There was packaging, tools, and parts everywhere, but once the faucet was installed the clutter and trash didn’t seem to bother me as much. Furthermore, I needed to test out the faucet must to make sure I installed it correctly.
No matter how many times you do this, you just never know what the end result will be. Feeling a bit excited and nervous at the same time, I turned on the water. As soon as it splashed the sink, I knew things would work out. Just to be sure, I tested both the hot and cold water. Then I pulled out the spout and tested the trigger. Everything worked perfectly. Yes!
I did a bit of a shuffle dance as I cleaned up the kitchen. In the background, upbeat music kept me company. Once the floors and counters were cleared, I simply looked at my kitchen. While there were other chrome items that still needed to be replaced, I felt so much better already.
It might seem silly, but the new faucet definitely brought harmony and balance to my kitchen. Years from now, I could see myself cooking with my family. There’d be no chrome anywhere, of course, but simply a gathering place for my loved ones to create and share memories.
